My Story
My love for health and fitness goes way back to my teenage years.  I’m the youngest of 5 girls and my older sisters would always drag me out for runs around the neighborhood and local trails when they wanted a running buddy!  It wasn’t long before we were signing up for 5k’s and half marathons together!
We were pretty convinced that running (and only running) would help us get “toned” and those abs we envied on the cover of every magazine (we were wrong)!  Thankfully, I took a weight training class during my senior year of high school that taught me a lot about how to properly use different machines and how to perform lifts in the gym.  I took this knowledge with me into college where I would occasionally hit the weight room every couple of weeks (mostly 4-6 before spring break because I was all about those “quick fixes”)!
When I graduated college, I moved to Duluth, Minnesota for my first out-of-college job as an on-camera morning meteorologist. While I loved my career, I also met a guy who I loved even more! Before I knew it, my dog Rhett and I were on a plane and moving overseas to Italy to start a new life with my hockey-playing boyfriend!
Shortly after leaving my career and living in Europe everything kind of “clicked.” I wasn’t returning to my career in meteorology anytime soon and I’ve always loved health and fitness, but my “on again-off again” relationship with it left me exhausted and frustrated!Â
At the start of 2018, I told myself I was done starting over, and I meant it!  I started studying and got my personal training certification by the summer, which was around the same time I found out I was pregnant with our son, Harvey! Â
Once I became pregnant, I realized my personal training certification didn’t cover much about how to properly train pregnant women or help women recover postpartum. I wanted to know ALL about it, the do’s and don’ts, how to get my body ready for the big day, and how to properly recover while postpartum. So I continued my studies and later received a Pregnancy Fitness Certification as well as a Prenatal & Postnatal Specialist a few months later.
I saw a need for coaches who help women in ALL seasons of life. Whether that season is pregnancy or postpartum, women who are new to fitness, in the best shape of their life, or are simply looking for a new workout routine - there’s a place for you here at DO Fitness Co.
